CUMBERLAND

Zenna J. (Gwozdz) Ayers, 89, of Cumberland passed away on Monday, March 3, 2025 at home surrounded by her family.  She was the wife of the late John R. Ayers.

Born in Pawtucket, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Della (Wujcik) Gwozdz. She was a life-long resident of Cumberland.

Mrs. Ayers was an Administrative Assistant for Ann & Hope  and at the Memorial Hospital for over 30 years until her retirement.

Zenna was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother that dedicated her life to caring for her family. She enjoyed spending time with her many friends and loved animals; especially her dogs.

She leaves her children, Kevin R. Ayers and his wife Terri of Vermont, John R. Ayers Jr. and his wife Joanne of Cumberland, Bruce D. Ayers and his partner Maryellen Gillis of Cumberland; her grandchildren, Corey Costa, Hannah Tibbits, Keegan Ayers, Gabriele Ayers, Zachary Ayers, Michael Colella and Alisha Colella. Her eight great-grandchildren.  She was the mother of the late Cheryl A. Gomes and her husband Peter.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to Zenna's Life Celebration to be held with Visiting Hours on Friday, March 7, 2024 from 10 AM to 12 NOON in the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Road, Rt. 122, Cumberland.  A prayer service will be held at 12 NOON. Burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery, Cumberland.
