William T. Lang, known to family and friends as Bill, passed away peacefully on August 22, 2026, surrounded by the family he cherished above all else.

Born in Providence, Rhode Island, Bill lived a life defined by devotion to family, loyalty to friends, and a deep appreciation for life's simple pleasures.

Bill is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Catherine Marie (Beagan) Lang; his daughters, Chris Tellier and her husband, Roland, Kerri Lang and her wife, Christine, and Coleen Micalizzi and her husband, John; his grandchildren, Derek, Corey, Courtney, Will, and Michael; his great-grandchildren, Ryan and Kylah; his brother, John Lang, and his wife, Diane; as well as many extended family members and friends.

Bill proudly served in the Air National Guard before beginning a 32-year career as a truck driver and member of Teamsters Local 251. He took pride in his work and loved life on the road. Long before GPS existed, Bill was known for his remarkable navigation skills. Family members often relied on the hand-drawn maps he carefully created, confident that his directions would always get them where they needed to go.

In retirement, Bill and Cathy embraced their love of travel, cruising to Alaska and the Caribbean, exploring Ireland on multiple occasions, and creating memories together that their family will treasure.

An avid sports fan and lifelong Yankees supporter, Bill made it a mission to visit every MLB stadium, including many of the newer ballparks that replaced the old classics. Yet his greatest joy wasn't watching professional athletes. It was cheering on his children and grandchildren from the stands. Whether it was volleyball, basketball, field hockey, baseball, or football, Bill was almost always there, offering quiet encouragement and unwavering support.

For more than 70 years, Bill helped carry on one of his family's most treasured traditions: the annual Lang family clambake in Jamestown, RI. The gathering brought generations together and reflected what mattered most to him: family, laughter, and time spent with the people he loved.

Those who knew Bill will remember his dependability, sense of direction, love of sports and travel, and the steady presence he brought to every gathering. More than anything, he will be remembered for the love he had for his family. As a husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, he taught by example that life's greatest rewards come from being present for the people who matter most.

His legacy lives on in the traditions he helped preserve, the memories he created, and the family he loved so deeply.

Bill's Life Celebration will be held on Thursday, August 27, 2026, with a visitation from 2 to 5 pm followed by a Funeral Service at 5 pm at the J.J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Road, RT 122 Cumberland, Rhode Island. Family and friends are invited to gather, share memories, and honor the life of a man who meant so much to so many. Bill's burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Bill's memory to the American Cancer Society or Alzheimer's Association.
