Vera Irene (Skidmore) Rousseau

Vera Irene Rousseau passed away peacefully on October 5th, 2024, at Stillwater Assisted Living and Skilled Nursing Facility in Greenville, RI.

She was cared for by wonderful RNs, CNAs and Medical Technicians. She was 97 years old. Vera was born on a 100-acre farm in New Canaan, Nova Scotia to her parents Hubert and Evelyn (Tyrell) Skidmore. She had 3 brothers, Ivan, Austin and Vincent, and a sister Evelyn, all who have predeceased her. At 18 she ventured independently to Boston. She trained as a nurse at the Peter Bent Brigham Hospital, where she made lifelong friendships. She worked for the Boston VNA until she married. Vera spent much of her career working as an LPN at the Pawtucket Health and Rehab
nursing home in Pawtucket, RI. Vera was a single parent that raised her children in Pawtucket and Cumberland, RI. Later in life
she moved to Smithfield with her daughter Stacey and her family.

Vera is survived by her daughter Marie Rousseau and spouse Mary Garren of Stoughton, MA and her daughter Stacey Grant and granddaughter Maegan Grant of Smithfield, RI. Her son
Steven Rousseau and grandson Joseph Grant Jr are waiting for her on the other side.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to Vera's Life Celebration to begin with Visiting Hours on Saturday, October 19, 2024, from 12 PM to 2 PM followed by a Prayer Service at 2 PM in the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Road Cumberland.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Vera's name to Operation Smile, her favorite medical non-profit charity
