Obituary

Thomas R. Sahagian, 82, of Holliston, MA and formerly of Cumberland, RI passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on May 23, 2024.

Born in Boston, MA, he was the son of the late Leon and Christine Sahagian.

Tom was a 1959 graduate of East Providence High School and a 1963 graduate of Brown University.  After graduating from college, he served in the United States Army Reserves for 6 years.  Years later, he continued his education at Bryant University with a focus in accounting.

Tom held employment at many organizations, including Copper Chemical Corporation, Burroughs Corporation, Information Systems Incorporated and Standard Register Co. until he started his own business, Sahagian Associates in 1983 which he successfully ran for 30 years until he retired.
He was an active member in the business community, serving officer positions in multiple organizations, including the Greater Providence Chamber of Commerce and the Cumberland Business Association, where he received many awards and accolades.

Tom had very strong work ethic and loved being self-employed. He also had an entrepreneurial mindset, owning Bonin Mill, Motel Somerset and investment properties and enjoyed sharing his experience and knowledge with others through consulting and mentoring.

Outside of work, he had many interests and hobbies, such as golfing, bowling, playing cards, reading, completing crossword puzzles, gardening, boating, theater, dancing and playing the Armenian dumbeg.   He was a brother of the Rising Sun Lodge Masons organization of Rhode Island for almost 59 years.

Tom was a faithful parishioner of St. Vartanantz Armenian Apostolic Church and attended bible study for many years.  He was an avid history lover who enjoyed sharing his deep knowledge with others.

Tom was an active father with his children during their youth, attending sporting and cub scout events as well as dance and piano recitals and he continued to be involved in his children and grandchildren's lives as he grew older.  One of his greatest legacies is his family's beloved cabin on Echo Lake in Pascoag, Rhode Island where so many family members and friends have gathered for over 40 years.

What he loved most of all, was family.  Everyone who knew him knows this to be true.

He is survived by his three children, Christopher Sahagian of Holliston, Massachusetts, Michael Sahagian of Cumberland, Rhode Island and Stacey Laverty and her husband Brian of North Attleboro, Massachusetts, his five grandchildren, Madeline, Brian and Kevin Sahagian and Jack and Aiden Laverty, and two brothers, Robert Sahagian and his wife Janice of Westborough, MA and John Sahagian and his wife, Nina of Lexington, Massachusetts as well as many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to Tom's Life Celebration to be held with visiting hours on Wednesday, May 29, 2024, from 5 to 8 PM and will continue Thursday, May 30, 2024, at 8:00 AM in the   J.
