Thomas E. Philbin, fondly known as Brother and Tommy, was born to Thomas C. and Claire Philbin (preceding him in peace), on July 6th, 1959, in Providence, Rhode Island.  Tom passed away peacefully with his family by his side on January 16th, 2025.Tom enlisted in the United States Navy his senior year of high school at the age of 17. During his military service, Tom was stationed in numerous countries, but least expectedly, he met the love of his life and wife, Rosemarie Philbin. Their love for one another is what most people hope to find and aspire to have in their own lives.

Tom's loving spirit is carried on by his wife, Rose; his two sisters, Sharon, and her husband Gary Parks of Cumberland, and Kathy, and her husband Wayne Wallace of Emporia, Virginia; his daughter Ashley, and her husband Suman of Cumberland; his son Adam, and his wife Nikita of Cumberland; his son Tyler, and his wife Olivia of North Attleboro.   Along with his 8 grandchildren, Genevieve, William, Samuel, Isabella, Amelia, James, Josephine, and Charlotte. While Tom left us too soon, the impact he had on his family and friends will be felt for generations to come.

Known for his wisdom, generosity, compassion, love for family, church, and faith – he was the family's anchor and loved nothing more than providing his words of wisdom that guided them through life's journeys, especially emphasizing their 5-year plan.

A proud father and grandfather, who loved supporting his children and grandchildren in all their achievements and milestones – sharing a special bond with each and every one of them. His children were his life, and his grandchildren have become his heart. Tom instilled in his family a love for family traditions and adventures like annual holiday gatherings and family vacations to Virginia Beach and Lincoln, New Hampshire. He also instilled in his family a deep respect for the military and their service to our country (especially the Navy, GO NAVY!). Tom belonged to the Knights of Columbus and was an avid golfer.

Tom received his bachelor's degree in accounting from Bryant University.

A respected accountant, he started his career at Valley Resources in Cumberland while working simultaneously at Gloster Country Club, then became the Americas Financial Controller of Analog Devices, a career which lasted 20+ years.

To honor Tom's memory, a wake will be held at JJ Duffy Funeral Home, Cumberland, on Tuesday, January 21st, 2025, at 4:00 to 7:00 PM, and a service will be held at St. Aidan-St. Patrick Church, Cumberland, on Wednesday, January 22nd, at 10:00 AM. Burial with military honors will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Cumberland.
