Thomas D Drury, 79, passed away on July 7, 2024 at home. He was the much-loved husband of Joanne Stenovitch Drury.
Tom was the father of David Drury and his wife Nina, and John Evans and his wife Dawn. He was the grandfather of 2 loved grandsons, Kasey and Kyle. Along with his brother Anthony Drury of Jacksonville, FL. He was predeceased by his wife, Shirley and son George.
He served his country in the U.S.Army as a Drill Sergeant during the Vietnam war years.
Tom was a well-respected Professional Land Surveyor in Rhode Island, Massachusetts and Connecticut.
He graduated from Roger Williams College with a degree in Construction Engineering.
Tom took great joy in working with the Boy Scouts and was Assistant Scoutmaster for Troop 12 in Cumberland for many years and was Camp Master for the Yawgoo Scout Reservation for 15 years.
Tom loved playing golf and going fishing, but hunting was his favorite interest and he looked forward every year for the start of the season. He often traveled with his hunting buddies hoping to return home and fill the freezer. Tom's greatest pleasure was traveling with his wife. They took many cruises and traveled to many parts of the country. They were snowbirds for years, traveling from their RI home to their home in Dunedin, Fl where they settled in a wonderful little community where Tom was very active until his illness 6 months ago.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to Tom's Life Celebration to be held with Visiting Hours on Friday, July 12, 2024 from 4 to 7 PM and continue on Saturday, July 13, 2024 at 10 AM in the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Road, Rt. 122, Cumberland. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 AM and conclude with Military Honors outside of the Historic St. Joseph Church in Cumberland. Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis TN 31805.
