CUMBERLAND

Steven B. Mendes, 38, of Cumberland, passed away on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, at Our Lady of Fatima Hospital, North Providence.

Born in Pawtucket, he was the son of Augusto Mendes of Cumberland and Elaine (Barata) Mendes of Cumberland.  He was a life-long resident of Cumberland.

Mr. Mendes was employed as an inspector for the Vishay Sprague Inc.  He was previously employed as an auto technician at Scott Volkswagen for many years.

Steven was a communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Church.   He enjoyed fishing, skateboarding, and spending time with his beloved family.

In addition to his parents, he leaves his daughter, Lola Mendes; his son, Zayne Mendes; his sister, Lisa Emidio and her husband Hugo; his maternal grandparents, Antonio and Dinora (Rosa) Barata of Cumberland; his niece and goddaughter, Beatriz Emidio; his nephew, Oliver Emidio; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins and close friends.   He was the grandson of the late Jose and Elisa (Rosa) Mendes.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to Steven's Life Celebration to be held with Visitation on Friday, February 20, 2026, from 9 AM to 10:30 AM.   A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 AM in Our Lady of Fatima Church, Fatima Drive, Cumberland.   Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Cumberland.
