Russell J. Bogdan, 75, of Cumberland passed away surrounded by his family on Tuesday, October 28, 2025 at Hope Health Hulitar Hospice Center in Providence. Born in Providence, he was the son of Adam and Helen Bogdan. He was the beloved husband of Linda Bogdan for 25 years. He was a 1968 graduate of LaSalle Academy, and he held both a pharmacy degree and MBA from the University of Rhode Island.
Russell dedicated his professional life as a pharmacist where he worked at many local hospitals throughout his career including Kent County Hospital, the former Memorial and Cranston General Hospitals and finally at Sturdy Memorial Hospital where he built lifelong friendships. His passion for helping others led him to continue working well beyond retirement to the age of 74.
Russell had many interests in life including photography, traveling, singing, playing basketball, following New England Sports Teams, and running, where he remained actively completing several road races last year. In addition, Russell cherished spending time with his family and friends, watching his grandchildren play sports, and supporting the RI Special Olympics with his son Michael.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his three sons, Dennis and Susan Bogdan of Swansea, MA, Shawn and Kerry Bogdan of Lakeville, MA, and Michael Bogdan from Cumberland. Russell is also survived by his 4 grandchildren: Karina (18), Brayden (17), Matthew (16), and Ashlyn (14).
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, November 7, 2025 at 10 AM in the Historic St. Josephs' Church in Cumberland, RI. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery,
Visitation will be on Thursday,November 6, 2025 from 5 to 8 PM at the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home in Cumberland, RI.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to Special Olympics Rhode Island, 370 George Washington Highway, Smithfield, RI 02917
