Rose Mary
Lafountaine
Oct 27, 1930 — Aug 7, 2026
Rose M. (Costa) LaFountaine, 95, of Cumberland, passed away on August 7, 2026 with her loving family by her side. She was the beloved wife of the late Joseph LaFountaine, with whom she shared more than seven decades of marriage. Rose devoted her life to her family, friends and her home.
A loving and dedicated mother, she took great pride in raising her children and creating a home filled with love, warmth and togetherness. For Rose, family was always at the center of everything she did, and there was no greater joy than the time she spent with those she loved.
Throughout their many years together, Rose and Joseph shared a wonderful life. She enjoyed bowling and dancing, as well as playing cards or simply being surrounded by her children and grandchildren. Rose found happiness in life's simple pleasures such as spending time with family and friends going to the movies shopping and lunch.
Her Catholic faith was an important part of her life. She was a longtime communicant of St. Aidan Church in Cumberland.
She leaves her four children, Kim Carreau and her husband Stephen, Steve LaFountaine, companion of the late Doris Nelson, Lori McMahon and her husband David, Lynn Patnaude and her husband Pat, and was the mother of the late Joseph LaFountaine Jr. She also leaves her four grandchildren, Joseph McMahon, Katelyn McMahon, Keith LaFountaine, and the late Steve Girard. Additionally, she was the sister of Constance Henshaw, Mary Lawrence, and the late John Costa, Manuel DeCosta, and Armand Costa as well as many nieces and nephews.
Rose will be remembered most for the love and devotion she gave so freely to her family and friends.
Her 95 years were filled with the people and traditions she cherished, and the love she shared with them will remain an enduring part of her legacy.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to Rose's Life Celebration to begin with Visiting Hours on Thursday, August 13, 2026, from 4 to 7 PM in the J. J.
