Obituary

CUMBERLAND

Rogerio A. Soares, 76, of Cumberland, passed away on November 17, 2024, at HopeHealth in Providence, surrounded by his loving family.  He was the beloved husband of Ana Rosa (Silva) Soares and they had been married for the past 56 years.

Born in Familicao da Serra,  Portugal, Rogerio moved to the United States in 1966, settling in Pawtucket before moving to Lincoln in 1970 and eventually making his home in Cumberland in 2005.

Rogerio worked in the textile industry for many years, with roles at Moore Fabrics, Murdock Webbing, and Carol Cable. He was a communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Church and enjoyed gardening, fishing, playing cards, and working in his yard. He was a dedicated and passionate Benfica fan.   A proud member of Casa do Benfica in Cumberland, Irmandade do Divino Spirito Santo, and Uniao Portuguesa Beneficente in Pawtucket, Rogerio formed meaningful connections within his community.  Above all, he loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and family pets.

In addition to his beloved wife, he is survived by his three children: Rogerio Soares Jr. and his wife Nicole of Attleboro, Fausto Soares and his wife Celeste of North Attleboro, and Fatima Araujo and her husband Joseph of Cumberland. He was the cherished grandfather of Brandon, Tyler, Alexis, Andrew, Isabella, Jacob, Samuel, and Joshua.  Rogerio also leaves behind his siblings: Floriana Thomas of Pawtucket, Odete Almeida of Portugal, Augusta Mekhaeel of West Warwick, and Manuel Soares of Cranston; as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister Elisa Coelho.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to Rogeiro's Life Celebration to be held with Visiting Hours on Friday, November 22, 2024 from 4 to 7 PM and continue on Saturday, November 23, 2024 at 9 AM in the J.
