CUMBERLAND

Roger Albert Doire, 94,  a beloved resident of Cumberland, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 12, 2023, at home.  He was the cherished husband of Margaret M. (Sabourin) Doire and the late Doris (Drolet) Doire.

Born in Providence,  Roger was the son of the late Albert and  Georgiana (Boisclaire) Doire, and he remained a devoted lifelong resident of Cumberland.

Roger was a successful entrepreneur, establishing and managing Drolet Hardware, Drolet Kitchen and Bath, and New England Countertop in Pawtucket for many years until his well-deserved retirement. Prior to that, he was a self-employed contractor, showcasing his dedication and skill in the carpentry trade. He was an active member of the Carpenters Union.

A faithful communicant of St. John Vianney and the Historic St. Joseph Church, Roger's devotion to his faith was evident in his daily life.   He was a member of the St. Vincent DePaul Society.  He was also known for his unwavering passion for New England sports, particularly his beloved Boston Red Sox and Providence College Basketball.

In addition to his professional accomplishments, Roger had a variety of interests that enriched his life. He found joy in racing pigeons, cheering on horse races, and spending winters in Deerfield Beach, FL. He was a man of simple needs, known for his humility, strong work ethic, and deep religious values.

Roger leaves behind a legacy of love and family. He is survived by his devoted wife, Margaret, and his three adoring daughters, Arlene Crawley of Cumberland, Carolyn Lefort of Cumberland, and Linda Bertozzi of Baldwin, MD.  In addition he leaves three step-daughters and a step-son.  His nine grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren were a source of immense pride and happiness. Additionally, Roger is survived by several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Kathleen A. Carpenter.

Roger Albert Doire will be remembered for his unwavering dedication to his family, his strong work ethic, and his love for both his community and his faith. His legacy will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to Roger's Life Celebration to be held Saturday, October 21, 2023 with a Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM at St. John Vianney Church, Cumberland.  Burial will follow at the St. Joseph Cemetery, Cumberland.
