Robert J. McGlone, Jr., 68, of Pawtucket, passed away on Wednesday, April 16, 2025, with his family beside him and surrounded by love. Whether you knew him as Robert, Bob, or Bobby, those who knew him knew that the very best thing about him was his ability to make people laugh. It was this sense of humor that won him the favor of his longtime love, his wife Carolyn (Hinchcliffe) McGlone. They started dating when they were just 14-years-old and are proud to have just celebrated their 44th wedding anniversary. Together, they made their home and built their life in the same house where their paths first crossed all those years ago.

Born May 24, 1956, in Providence, RI, he was the son of the late Lorayne (Gnys) and Robert McGlone, Sr. His childhood on Scarborough Road in Pawtucket provided many wonderful stories to share for years to come.

In his early years, Bobby enjoyed slot car racing and spent much of his time with friends at Darlington Hobbies. His love of racing grew, and he demonstrated his skill and speed on the race track with his motorcycles. From there he began custom painting not only his own bikes, but those of friends and fellow racers, and it was from this hobby that his joy of painting motorcycles, cars, and anything with an engine was born. His painting career was successful, and he began producing signs for many local businesses. For many years you could drive around Pawtucket and the surrounding areas and spot signage that he had hand-painted in his basement studio or garage workshop. And if you know where to look there are still a few relics hanging around on storefronts today. Bob also worked for Clark Forklifts and then as an autoworker for Chrysler. He was the proud pet parent of a whole pack of Weimaraners, who provided him great companionship and much happiness. We are quite certain they were the first to welcome him at the Gates of Heaven. We hope he had plenty of dog cookies in his pockets…

Bob is survived by his wife, Carolyn; their daughter Melissa with her children Nora and Sawyer; and their son Jesse, with his children Blakely and Paisley. He also leaves one brother, Brian McGlone, one sister Priscilla McGlone, and one nephew Michael Kelly.

As a father, Bob was involved and supportive of everything his children did, and particularly enjoyed his time helping as a coach on the baseball and softball fields in the spring. He supported and encouraged his family's love of the beach, and spent many summer days creating sand mermaids, catching crabs, and sending his children on wave-after-wave boogie boarding at their favorite beach in Little Compton.

In his later years, Bob became a grandfather and earned a new title, "Grumpa". Far from the grumpy grandpa his new moniker implied, he is the beloved grandfather of four beautiful grandchildren who loved him very, very much. And he them. His ability to make children laugh and giggle held strong, and they all got the biggest kick out of teasing each other and being silly together. It goes without saying that fart jokes were a favorite theme shared by all. Followed in close second by their shared love of snacks, and a Grumpa who was always ready to sneak them a yummy treat. We will surely miss his eyes lighting up with joy at the mention of his grandbabies.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to celebrate the life of Bob with visiting hours on Wednesday, April 23rd from 4:00p-7:00p in the J.J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Road, Cumberland, RI. A prayer service will be held at 6:30pm.
