Robert E.
Maroney
May 28, 1933 — Oct 22, 2024
Cumberland
Cumberland,
Robert E. Maroney, 91, passed away on Tuesday, October 22, 2024, in the Cherry Hill Manor, Johnston. He was the beloved husband of the late Dorothy (Hayden) Maroney. They shared 64 beautiful years of marriage. Born in Pawtucket, he was the son of the late Edward and Doris (Lebeuf) Maroney.
He was a US Coast Guard Veteran proudly serving during the Korean War from 1952-1956. He was a graduate of URI with a bachelor's degree in business administration. Bob was employed as a Manager for Cambridge Valve & Fitting Corp, Warwick for 33 years, retiring in 2005.
He resided in Cumberland for more than 55 years. Bob was a devoted fan of the New England Patriots and the Boston Red Sox. He enjoyed spending a beautiful afternoon or evening at a Pawtucket Red Sox game. His passion for sports extended beyond watching the games, as he enjoyed playing in over-30 and over-50 slow pitch softball leagues and he also loved to golf and fish. Bob and his wife Dottie loved to travel. Their favorite places to visit were Florida, Bermuda and Aruba and they spent many summer days on the beach in Matunuck.
Bob was strong-willed and stubborn at times, but he also had an enormous heart and wonderful sense of humor. He was generous, loyal, and brave. Bob's greatest love was his family.
He will be remembered for all the heart he shared with his family. He truly loved each of them- and if you knew him, you knew it. When his time came, he carried himself with dignity, strength, and full of love for those who went before him. He will be missed dearly.
He is survived by his two sons; Robert E. Maroney Jr. of Charlestown, RI., and Michael B. Maroney of Westerly, RI. His two daughters; Kathleen Favorite and her husband Martin of Cumberland and Kristen Parmentier and her husband Bryan of Brooksville, FL, five grandchildren; Michael, Richard, Kayla, Jared, and Corey. Three great grandchildren along with several nieces and nephews. He had two brothers: Frederick Maroney of Florida, and James Maroney of Colorado and one sister, Beatrice Maroney of California.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to Bob's Life Celebration to begin with Visiting Hours on Sunday, November 3, 2024 from 1 PM to 3 PM and continuing on Monday November 4, 2024 at 10 AM in the J.
