Obituary

LINCOLN

Rita A. Garcia, 97, of Lincoln, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 24, 2025, at the Grandview Nursing Center in Cumberland. She was the beloved wife of the late Luciano Almeida.

Born in Faial, Acores, Portugal,  Rita was the daughter of the late Antonio and Maria (de Gloria) Garcia. In 1977, with courage and faith, she immigrated to the United States and made Lincoln her home, where she built a life rooted in faith, family, and tradition. She most recently resided with her devoted daughter Emilia before entering the nursing home.

Rita worked as a Machine Operator in several local mills throughout her career, known for her strong work ethic and dedication to providing for her family.

A woman of deep Catholic faith, Rita was a devoted communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Church in Cumberland. She was a proud member of the Grupo Amigos da Terceira of Pawtucket and the Community Center Seniors Group, where she formed lasting friendships. Rita found joy in the simple pleasures of life—crocheting, knitting, gardening, and taking long walks. Each day, she prayed the rosary for her family, holding a lifelong and profound devotion to the Blessed Mother. Her faith was the light that guided her and the legacy she lovingly passed down to her children and grandchildren.

She leaves her daughters, Emilia Macedo and her husband Jose of Lincoln, Maria L. Amaral and her husband Joao of Florida, and Maria F. Sliney of Woonsocket; her twelve grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. She was the mother of the late Jose D'Almeida and Luciano D'Almeida, and was also predeceased by her three siblings.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to Rita's Life Celebration to be held with Visiting Hours on Wednesday from 8 AM to 10:30 AM in the J. J.
