SEEKONK, MA

LOPES, Richard J., 59, of Seekonk, formerly of Cumberland passed away unexpectedly on Monday, October 3, 2022 at the Rhode Island Hospital, Providence. He was the beloved husband of Florbela R. (Carvalho) Lopes, and they had been married for the past 34 years.

In addition to his wife, he leaves his two daughters, Jessica Lopes of Seekonk and Meghan Lopes of Seekonk and her fiance Brendan Meenan of Lincoln; his brother, Jim Lopes and his wife Lori of Swansea; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Born in Central Falls, he was the son of Arsidio and Mary Ann (Carvalho) Lopes. He resided in Seekonk for the past 20 years, previously residing in Pawtucket.

Mr. Lopes was employed as an operations manager for the Xpressman Courier of Randolph, MA for the past two years.

Richard enjoyed watching all the New England Sports teams, but was a passionate Bruins and Patriots fan. He also enjoyed golfing with his brother, nephews and future son-in-law. Those who love him will always remember him as the life of the party, with a outgoing personality and great sense of humor. Most of all he will be remembered as a loving husband, father, son, brother and friend that will be greatly missed.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to Richard's Life Celebration to be held with Visiting Hours on Friday, October 7, 2022 from 5 to 8 PM and continue on Saturday, October 8, 2022 at 9 AM in the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Road, Rt. 122, Cumberland. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10 AM in Our Lady of Fatima Church, Fatima Drive, Cumberland. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
