Richard Gerard Joseph Deshaies, 77, of Woonsocket, passed away on Wednesday, July 15, 2026 at Hope Health in Providence.
Born in Woonsocket, he was the son of the late Robert and Therese (Beaudet) Deshaies. He resided in Blackstone, Burrillville and Florida as well as Woonsocket during his lifetime.
He worked at Electric Boat, Ocean State Power, and was the former owner of Dicks Texaco on Mendon Road in Woonsocket. He was also a volunteer firefighter and chief engineer for the Nasonville Fire Department.
Richard was an avid hunter, and those who love him will remember him as a "Jack-of-all-trades."
He leaves his children, Jocelyn Farland and her husband Jay of Attleboro, Celeste Kimble-Levreault and her husband Normand Levreault of Lee, Maine; his two sisters, Madeliene Bissonnette and her husband Moe of Hummelstown, PA and Jeanne Brennan and her husband Alfred of Woonsocket; his four grandchildren, Elizabeth Bartolomeo, Morgan Kimble, Emma Farland and Ethan Farland; as well as several nieces and nephews. He also leaves his two step-children, Cheryl Albee of Connecticut and Brenda Keeble of Burrillville; five step-grandchildren, Samantha Fitzgerald, Joshua Correia, Bryan Albee, Stephanie Albee and Liliana Keeble; and two great-step-grandchildren. He was the step-father of the late Augustine "Gus" Eddy and brother of the late Donald Deshaies.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, July 27, 2026 at
10 AM in the St. Agatha Church, Woonsocket. Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Oakland Mapleville Fire Department, C/O Hose Company, 46 Oakland School Street, Oakland, RI 02859 or to Hope Health, 1085 North Main Street, Providence, RI 02904.
