Richard W. "Dick" Howe, 80, passed away on Sunday, November 20, 2022 in Landmark Medical Center, Woonsocket.
Born in Pawtucket, he was the son of the late Ernest W. Howe and Elizabeth I. (Moylan) Howe. He is survived by his wife Andrea M. (Wright) Howe of 36 years. A sister Merle A. Blanton of Woodstock, VA., and a brother John E. Howe of Providence. Two sons, Christopher R. Howe of Pace, FL., and Scott A. Howe of Pawtucket. Three daughters, Holly M. Hebert of Warren, Stacey A. Howe of Arlington, MA., and Stephanie B. Howe of San Diego, CA. Dick had four grandchildren, Christopher R. Howe Jr., Ariel Howe, Scott Howe and Jake Neilson, along with two great-grandchildren, Carter W. Richardson, and Myles M. Richardson.
Dick graduated from Tolman High School and attended Bryant College, Roger Williams University and Providence College. He was an outside technician for the former Nynex now Verizon for 27 years and after retiring he became a Rhode Island State Constable for the past 23 years. He served in the United States Army Military Police during the Vietnam War attaining the rank of Sergeant.
He served as post commander of the Armistice Post #45 American Legion and served as the First District Commander. He was a past president of the Wampanoag Rod and Gun Club as well as a member of the Cumberland Beagle Club and an associate member of the Rhode Island Troopers Association.
He loved to shoot both pistol and rifle and was an NRA certified instructor. He was a devoted father and loved being with his family. He enjoyed his many friends and like to have a beer at the Irish Social Club.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to Dick's Life Celebration to begin with Visiting Hours on Tuesday, November 29, 2022 9 AM to 11 AM, followed by a prayer service at 11 AM in the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Road Cumberland. Burial with military honors will be held in the Resurrection Cemetery, Cumberland.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the American Heart Association, Rhode Island Chapter, 1 State Street Unit 200 Providence, RI 02908.
