Obituary

Richard J. Dobosz, of Cumberland, passed away suddenly on Thursday, July 23, 2026. He was 53. He is survived by his beloved wife of 12 years, Kimberly (Andrade) Dobosz, and their cherished son, Thaddeus "Teddy" Dobosz.

Rich was the rock to his wife and young son. Though his journey on earth ended far too soon, Rich's unwavering, selfless, positive spirit and genuinely loving nature touched every person he knew and was a voice of reason amongst his siblings, friends, and extended family.

Richard was born on February 9,1973 in Pawtucket and was the devoted son of the late Jozef and Bronislawa (Nykiel) Dobosz. A graduate of Cumberland High School Class of 1991, he played on the varsity baseball and varsity football teams. Rich attended the University of Rhode Island and received a bachelor's degree in business. He was a proud brother of the Sigma Pi fraternity, where he made lasting friendships.

In 1999, Rich joined a local start up company, Chemtex, and helped build out its business. After a 2020 acquisition by SpillTech, he continued on as the operations manager in Cumberland.

A devout Catholic, Rich grew up in the parish St. Joseph Church in Central Falls, where he served as an altar boy in his youth. Rich's faith guided the way he lived: with kindness, generosity, loyalty.

Rich's greatest joy was being a father to his beloved son, Teddy. As a first-generation American, Rich took tremendous pride in teaching his son about their Polish heritage through language, traditional foods, and trips to Poland to connect with relatives there. The bond they shared was immeasurable and will remain an enduring part of Rich's legacy.

Rich loved baseball, and was a lifelong Boston Red Sox fan. Rich poured his deep knowledge of player profiles and statistics into fantasy baseball. Along with his brother, Ray, he recruited dozens of friends into leagues for the past 35 years. Though he claimed each of his many league championships with pride, it was the unbreakable friendships that truly defined his passion.

Most of all, Rich enjoyed seeing his son play the sport he loved so much and happily devoted many hours to the coaching community at Cumberland Youth Baseball Softball League. He treasured summers spent with his family, particularly their days at the beach in Newport.

In addition to his wife and son, Richard leaves behind his brother Raymond Dobosz, and his wife, Magdalena; his brother Robert Dobosz; his loving parents-in-law, Jose and Louise Andrade; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family members, and a host of treasured friends.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to Rich's Celebration of Life to be held at J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Road, Route 122, Cumberland, beginning with visitation on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM and continuing on Thursday, July 30, 2026, at 10:30 AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00 PM in St. Joseph's Church, 391 High Street, Central Falls. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, West Wrentham Road, Cumberland.
