CUMBERLAND

Raymond J. Mercier,87 of Cumberland passed away on Sunday, February 1, 2026 at home.

Born in Central Falls, he was the son of the late Gerard and Irene (Dulude) Mercier.  He resided in Cumberland for most of his life.

Mr. Mercier served our country honorably and faithfully in the United States Marines until he was honorably discharged.

Mr. Mercier was employed as warehouse foreman for the VP Winter Company for 46 years until his retirement.

Raymond enjoyed fixing cars, woodworking, walks at the monastery, fishing, and camping.  He was a dedicated New England sports fan.  Most of all he loved spending time with his family, especially his beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He leaves his children, Michael Mercier of Cumberland, and Joanne Mercier of Marion, MA;   his three siblings, Pauline Mercier-Charron of North Smithfield, Maurice Mercier and his wife Stephanie of Kentucky, and Charles Mercier of Warren; his three grandchildren, Melissa Mercier and her fiance Brian of Woonsocket, Michael Mercier and his wife Michelle of Pawtucket and Coby Mercier and his wife Talia of Blackstone; his four great-grandchildren, Sydney, Jayden, Mylah and Quinn; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to Raymond's Life Celebration to be held with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM on Monday February 9, 2026 in the Historic St. Joseph Church, Mendon Road, Cumberland.  Burial with Military Honors will follow at Resurrection Cemetery, Cumberland.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to a charity of your choice.
