WRENTHAM, MA

CHAVES, Raymond V., 73, of Wrentham, passed away on Saturday, November 26, 2022 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Frances M. (Marszalkowski) Chaves and they had been married for the past 42 years.

Born in Bristol, RI, he was the son of the late Joseph V. and Marie (Camara) Chaves. He resided in Wrentham for almost 50 years, previously residing in Rehoboth, MA.

Mr. Chaves was a United States Army, Vietnam Era, veteran attaining the rank of Sergeant and stationed in South Korea.

Mr. Chaves was employed for over 35 years by Smithfield Peat Inc., retiring due to illness.

Those who love him will always remember his strong work ethic and the love he shared for his family. He was a dedicated and passionate New England Patriots and NASCAR fan. He also had great love for all types of animals, especially his dogs.

In addition to his wife, he leaves his sons, Raymond Chaves and Michael Chaves, both of Wrentham and John Paul Chaves and his wife Jill of Burlington, MA; his granddaughter, Adaline Chaves of Burlington, MA; his sister, Mary Arruda of Rehoboth; his brothers, Joseph Chaves, Manuel Chaves and his wife Pat, Augustus Chaves and his wife Margaret, and Mario Chaves, Lenny Chaves and his wife Alice, all of Rehoboth, and John Chaves and his wife Sue of Florida; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was the brother in law of the late Tony Arruda, Grace Chaves, and Mary Chaves.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to Raymond's Life Celebration to be held with Visiting Hours on Thursday, December 1, 2022 from 4 to 7 PM and continue on Friday, December 2, 2022 at 10 AM in the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Road, Rt.122, Cumberland. A prayer service will be held at 11 AM. Burial will follow with military honors in the Resurrection Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
