Raymond A. Baril, 83, of Fort Pierce, Florida, and Warwick, Rhode Island, passed away peacefully on March 19, 2026, at Treasure Coast Hospice in Florida, surrounded by the love of his family. He was the devoted husband of Katherine H. (Wilson) Baril, with whom he shared 63 years of marriage, partnership, and a lifetime of memories. Together, they built a life rooted in love, family, and unwavering commitment—something that will continue to live on through all who knew them.

Born in Central Falls, he was the son of the late Albert and Alice (Leboeuf) Baril. Ray embraced life fully and energetically. He loved the rhythm of the seasons—winters in the warmth of Fort Pierce and summers at his cottage by the ocean in Warwick, a place that brought him both peace and joy. He was always on the move—puttering in the garage, taking his well-known "shortcuts," or setting out to explore somewhere new.

After high school, Ray proudly enlisted in the United States Air Force, serving from 1959 to 1963. He trained at Chanute Air Force Base in Illinois as an aircraft propeller mechanic and was later stationed at Goose Air Base in Labrador, where he ensured aircraft were safe and mission-ready under demanding conditions. He earned the Good Conduct Medal, a testament to his character and commitment to excellence in service. Ray carried the pride of his military service with him throughout his life.

Returning home, Ray continued his education at Johnson & Wales University, earning his associate degree, and went on to serve his community as a letter carrier with the United States Postal Service for 35 years. He was also a dedicated blood donor for many years, quietly giving back in a way that reflected his generous and giving spirit.

Ray was a man who deeply valued brotherhood, service, and community. He was a proud member of the Knights of Columbus, Delaney Council 57 in Pawtucket, where he served as both District Deputy and Past Grand Knight. He was also a member of BPOE Elks Lodge 1520 in Port St.Lucie, Moose Lodge 312, and American Legion Post 40 in Fort Pierce—places where he could often be found enjoying good company, an ice-cold beer, and the friendships that meant so much to him.

He had an unmistakable love for adventure. Whether camping, traveling, or planning his next cruise, Ray was always looking forward to the next destination. He and his beloved wife traveled extensively, exploring the world together and creating a lifetime of memories side by side. He completed two cross-country trips and never lost his curiosity for what was around the next corner.

But above all, Ray was a family man. His family was his greatest pride and his true home. He loved deeply and openly—never afraid to show emotion, often moved by the smallest, most meaningful moments. He was endlessly proud of his family and the life they shared.

In addition to his beloved wife, he leaves his daughter, Nancy Rainville of Cumberland; his two sons, Raymond D. Baril and his wife Darlene of Palm Coast, Florida, and Brian S. Baril and his wife Marie of Cumberland; his sister, Lucille Trojan of Cumberland and Fort Myers, Florida; and his five cherished grandchildren, Sarah Rainville (Gregory), Nicholas Rainville, Andrew Baril, Amanda Antoshak (Daniel), and Brandon Baril (Jacqueline). He was also the proud great-grandfather of Maxwell, Dustin, Brody, Bryce, and Samira, who brought him immense joy—nothing made him happier than watching them grow. He was predeceased by his great-grandchild, Landon, and his sister, Connie, and is now reunited with them in heaven.

Ray will be deeply missed. A devoted family man, nothing meant more to him than the love and time he shared with his family. His presence was larger than life, his love constant, and his impact immeasurable. Though it is hard to imagine a world without him, there is comfort in knowing his love remains all around us—in the family he built, the memories he gave us, and the example he set.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to Raymond A. Baril's Life Celebration to be held with a visitation on Saturday, April 25, 2026, from 9 AM to 11 AM, in the J.J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Road, Route 122, Cumberland. A prayer service will be held at 11 AM in the funeral home, followed by burial with full military honors at Resurrection Cemetery in Cumberland.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to Rhode Island Food Bank.
