CUMBERLAND

Rafael "Sijo" Perez, 79, of Cumberland passed away on Friday, April 28, 2023 peacefully at home.  He was the father of Aracelis Perez-Nicolace of Cumberland,  Fiordaliza Perez of New York, Rafael Perez Mojica, Katty Perez-Martinez and Mariaelisa Perez, all of Dominican Republic.

Born in the Dominican Republic, he was the son of the late Ambrosio Perez and Carmela Mojica.  He moved to this country in 1991, setting in New York.  He resided in Cumberland for the past two years.

Sijo, as he was affectionately known, was a gifted musician and the family recalls him enjoying playing his guitar with a glass of whiskey.  He was a dedicated and passionate Boston Red Sox fan.   He also had a green thumb, enjoyed time in the garden, had the gift of being a handyman, but most of all loved spending time with his family.

In addition to his children, he leaves his fifteen grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.  He also leaves his eight siblings; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to Sijo's Life Celebration to be held with Visiting Hours on Sunday April 30, 2023 from 1 PM to 4 PM in the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Road, Rt. 122, Cumberland.
