In Loving Memory of Phil Murphy

Phil was the kind of person who would do anything for anyone.

It is with profound sadness that we annouce the passing of our brother, Phil Murphy, at the age of 61.

Born in Providence was the son of the late Mary A. ( Barry ) Pearson and the late William A. Murphy.

Phil was predeceased by his sister Kathleen SanBento, bother in-laws Charles Besette and Michael Fontaine and his beloved uncle John Barry.

Phil resided in Woonsocket for the past 25 years.

Phil was employed by Consumer Propane ( Paraco Inc) of Woonsocket as a driver.

Phil was the kind of person who would do anything for anyone. If you needed help, you could count on Phil to be there. He had a generous heart and never hesitated to lend a hand, offer his time, or simply be there when someone needed him. Helping others was not something Phil had to think about-it was simply who he was.

Phil was a devoted sports fan who proudly supported his Pittsburgh Steelers and Boston Celtics.

Phil was a devoted sports fan who proudly supported his Pittsburgh Steelers and Boston Celtics. Whether watching a game, talking about his favorite players, or sharing his opinions with family and freinds, sports were a special part of part of his life.

But more than anything, Phil was a brother, a step-son, an uncle , and a friend. He leaves behind his brothers and sisters, Bill Murphy and his wife Karen, Barry Murphy and his wife Aileen, Susan Isabella and her husband Robert, Shannon Besette and her partner Robert Dion, Mary Lima and her husband Anibal, Faith Fontaine, and Emily Murphy and her husband Dan, as well as his beloved stepfather, Ron.

Phil also leaves behind too many nieces and nephews to name, each of whom held a special place in his heart. He was loved by a large family and countless friends and people whose lives he touched through his kindness and willingness to help.

Phil also had a very special relationship with his stepdaughters Christina Lees and Karina Anna Lemire whom he loved more than anything in this world.

Phil's passing leaves an emptiness that words cannot describe. We will miss his presence, his personality, his laughter, and the countless ways he showed us that he cared. We will miss knowing that Phil was just a phone call away and that, no matter what, he would do whatever he could to help.

Although our hearts are broken, we will always be grateful for the years, memories, laughter, and love we shared with him.

Phil, you gave so much of yourself to everyone around you. You never hesitated to help, and you never asked for anything in return. That is the kind person you were, and that is how you always be remembered.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to Philip's Life Celebration to be held with Visitation on Tuesday, September 29, 2026 from 9 AM to 10:30 AM in the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Road, Rt. 122, Cumberland. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 AM at St. Raymond Church, North Main Street, Providence, RI. Burial will follow at Mt. St. Mary Cemetery, Pawtucket.

Rest peacfully, Phil. We love you, we will mis you you every day, and we will carry your memory with us forever.
