Peter Joseph
Moore
Mar 4, 1949 — Sep 4, 2023
Attleboro
ATTLEBORO, MA
Peter Joseph Moore entered into eternal rest on September 4, 2023 at Hopehealth Hulitar Hospice Center in Providence, RI.
Pete was born March 4, 1949 in Attleboro, MA to Charles E. Moore, Jr and Mary (Walsh) Moore. He was a graduate of Attleboro High School, Class of 1968.
He married his childhood sweetheart, Christine (Winters) and celebrated fifty-one years of marriage last February.
Pete is survived by his loving, dedicated daughter Sharlene (Troy) Papineau of Cumberland, RI and son, Jason Moore of Fall River. He was so proud of and happy to see his grandchildren, Cameron and Crystalina Papineau of Cumberland and Damon Moore of Maine. He was called many things but never lazy. Pete was given the nickname Joe-Pete by his father. It stuck with him all of his life. He was also known lovingly as Mort, Pillow, and "Fast and Loud".
Pete proudly served in the U.S. Air Force for eight years as a Staff Sergeant, trained as an airplane mechanic. We believe this is why he talked so loud after so many years around airplanes. He owned and raced a stock car along with his brother, Paul. He raced for many years at Seekonk Speedway and traveled to NH and Daytona to catch races. Chris swore that Pete was actually "part car." He enjoyed doing puzzles, Jumbles, and going camping with his friends and family. He and Chris enjoyed date night at their favorite restaurant, Davenports. He was a member of the American Legion. Pete is remembered for his woodworking skills and how he loved to fix things. After his honorary discharge from the Air Force he was employed at Bird Machine and Co in Walpole and later GE of Avon.
Pete is survived by his siblings, Brenda Bowden of Attleboro and David Moore of Louisville, KY. He was also the brother of the late Charles E. Moore, III of Florida and Paul Moore of Attleboro. He also is survived by many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to Pete's Life Celebration to be held with Visiting Hours on Friday, September 8, 2023 from 5 PM to 8 PM in the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Road, Rt. 122, Cumberland. A prayer service with military honors will follow at 7:45 PM.
Donations in Peter's name will be happily accepted to the American Heart Association.
