Peter James Colding, 75, of Clemmons, NC, formerly of Woonsocket, passed away on Monday, January 1, 2024 at the Miriam Hospital, Providence. He was the husband of Dolores (Sylvia) Colding and they had been married for the past 51 years.
Born in Tampa, FL, he was the son of the late Calvin and Mary (Glynn) Colding. He resided in Clemmons, NC for the past 15 years, previously residing in Woonsocket.
Mr. Colding was employed as Food Service Manager by the Golding Farm Foods in Clemmons, NC for for 13 years and previously Kens Foods Inc. for in Marlboro, MA for 20 years.
Peter enjoyed fly fishing, tying flies, golfing, flying model airplanes, skiing and working on his new boat. He was a scout master for the St. Ambrose - Albion Troop, a basketball and softball coach for the St. Ambrose and St. Joseph CYO teams. Those who love him will remember his love for coaching and watching his daughter's sports through the years, but most of all the love he carried for his family.
In addition to his wife, he leaves his two daughter, Beth Colding Holmes and her husband David of Kingsland, GA and Michelle Colding of Manville, RI; his two sisters, Linda Colding Chancey and her husband Ronnie and Pamela Colding McCatty and her husband Donnie of Valrico, FL; his three grandchildren, Benjamin, Robert and Samantha Holmes; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to Peter's Life Celebration to be held with Visiting Hours on Saturday, January 6, 2024 from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM in the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Road, Rt. 122, Cumberland. A Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM in St. Ambrose Church, School Street, Albion. Burial with military honors will follow at St. Ambrose Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the American Heart Association, 1 State St UNIT 200, Providence, RI 02908 or to the Alzheimer's Association of RI, 245 Waterman St #306, Providence, RI 02906.
