Obituary

CUMBERLAND

Paul Neves, 64, of Cumberland passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, August 14, 2024 at home.  He was the husband of Terry May (Wood) Neves and they had been married for the past 42 years.

Born in Central Falls, he was the son of the late Joaquim A. and Maria R. (Pires) Neves.  He was a life-long resident of Cumberland.

Mr. Neves was an accounts receivable manager for Glove Cleaners and Safety Products in Plainville, MA for the past two years and a tax preparer for H&R Block for the past 26 years. He was previously employed by Standard Nut and Bolt, Durham School Services, and Dattco Inc.

He was a member of the Cumberland School Committee for 16 years, serving as chairperson for two.  He was a member and communicant of many area places of worship including, Our Lady of Fatima Church, St. Aidan/St. Patrick Parish and Park Place Congregational Church.

Paul was a talented musician and had a passion for music.  He was a drummer for the Lusitania Club Band, The Little German Band and Sound Odyssey with his brothers. For many years he was a member of the Cumberland-Lincoln Lions Club and a member of the Filibuster Club.

Those who had the privilege of knowing him will forever cherish his warm, generous spirit.  He was the kind of person who always made time for others, greeting everyone with his mischievous smile. His heart of gold and playful sense of humor brightened every room he entered, leaving a lasting impression on all who crossed his path.

In addition to his beloved wife, he leaves his cherished children, Carlene Elizabeth Neves, Jocelyn Michelle Neves, both of Burrillville; his granddaughter Amiyah Madison Ledlow of Burrillville; his sister Joyce Neves of Cumberland, his brothers, Raymond Neves and his wife Ana of Lincoln, and David Neves and his wife Janice of Woonsocket; his brother-in-laws, David Wood and his wife Corinne of Cumberland and Keith Albee and his wife Jennifer of Springfield, VT; as well as many Aunts, Uncles, Nieces, Nephews, Great-Nieces and Great-Nephews.  He was the brother-in-law of the late Charlene Albee.

"His Girls" as he calls his wife, daughters and granddaughter were his world.  He loved spending as much time as he could with them.  His grandaughter Amiyah was a major light of his life and he was so very proud to show his pride and joy off wherever he went.
