It is with a heavy heart that we share the news of Paul Elmer Lengyel's passing. Paul, who was 68 years old, passed away on February 18, 2023, surrounded by his loving family in Cumberland. Paul was the cherished husband of Eleanor Rose "Pat" (Conlan) Lengyel, with whom he shared 43 wonderful years of marriage.

Originally from Brooklyn, NY, Paul was the son of Rose Marie (Zglinski) Lengyel and the late Elmer Joseph Lengyel. He co-owned and operated Winlow Carpentry and Repair in Cumberland with his son Daniel for several years, and was a member of the RI Builders Association. He was previously employed by Capital Building and Design for 20 years.

Paul's faith was the foundation of his life, and he was a member of the Community Covenant Church in Rehoboth, MA. Along with being dedicated to his business and church community, he enjoyed tending to his yard and flower gardens, often working late into the evenings. His loved ones will always remember his hard-working nature and his immense love for his family, particularly his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Paul and Pat were foster parents for nearly 20 years. They also trained new foster parents and Paul served as the President of the RI Foster Parent Association.

In addition to his devoted wife, Paul leaves behind a large and loving family. He is survived by his children, Jason King and his wife Janice of Manville, Stacey King of Pawtucket, Matthew Lengyel and his wife Ashley of East Providence, Daniel Lengyel and his wife Jawei of Lincoln, Bethany Lengyel and her partner Valentine Mello of Cumberland, Patrick Lengyel of Cranston, Christophe Lengyel of Cumberland, and Christopher Lengyel of Cumberland. Paul is also survived by his siblings, Dennis Lengyel, Susan Arslanian, and Robert Lengyel, all of New York; his grandchildren, Breonna, Molly, Keyarra, Kaylyn, Matthew Jr., Abigayle, Isaac, Victoria, Leah, Daniel Jr., Annalyse, Vincent, and Faith; his two great-grandchildren, Gabriella and Juliet; as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother Peter Lengyel.

We invite relatives and friends to join us in celebrating Paul's life on Saturday, March 11, 2023, at Community Covenant Church located at 615 Tremont St, Rehoboth, MA. The family will receive guests from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM, followed by a Celebration of Life Service from 1:00 PM to 2:30 PM. Paul will be laid to rest privately. The J.J. Duffy Funeral Home in Cumberland, RI, has been entrusted with the arrangements.
