Obituary

Patricia A. “Pat” Brown, 86, of Cumberland, passed away on Friday, September 18, 2026 at The Holiday Retirement Home, Manville. She was the wife of the late David A. Brown, who passed away in 1992.

Born in Central Falls on March 18, 1940, she was the daughter of Doris (Walker) Mitchell and Thomas Mitchell. Pat made her home in Cumberland, where she raised her family and became a familiar and much-loved presence in the community.

Pat worked for Ann & Hope for approximately 30 years, where she served as a head cashier. Later in life, she found another role that brought her tremendous happiness, working for approximately eight years as a bus monitor for the Town of Cumberland, retiring in 2020. She especially loved the children on her school bus, who affectionately knew her as “Miss Pat.”

Family was everything to Pat. She had a natural way of putting everyone else ahead of herself and found her greatest happiness in caring for and spending time with those she loved. She possessed a wonderful sense of humor and took genuine joy in making others laugh. Her warmth, quick wit, and ability to bring a smile to the people around her will be fondly remembered.

Pat also enjoyed spending time with the Cumberland Seniors, vacationing, and taking trips to the casino. Whether she was surrounded by family, sharing a laugh with friends, or enjoying a day out, Pat knew how to appreciate life's simple pleasures.

She leaves her three daughters, Diane M.Conlan and her husband Anthony of Cumberland, Joanne M. Guilbert and her late husband Normand of Pawtucket and Patricia A. Cross and her husband David of Attleboro; her three sons, David A. Brown and his wife Anne of Cumberland, Thomas M. Brown of Pawtucket, and Daniel A. Brown and his wife Keriann of Cumberland; her brother, Richard Mitchell of East Providence; and her sister, Nancy Lindsey of New London, New Hampshire. She also leaves 11 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren, each of whom held a very special place in her heart.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to Pat's Life Celebration to be held with Visitation on Wednesday September 23, 2026 from 4 to 6 PM followed by a Funeral service at 6 PM.

In lieu of flowers donations in Pat's name may be made to Hope Hospice, 1085 North Main Street, Providence would be appreciated.
