CUMBERLAND

BATEMAN, Patricia L., 90, of Cumberland passed away on Saturday, May 14, 2022 at the Village at Waterman Lake in Smithfield. She was the wife of the late Lloyd A. Bateman.

Born in Pawtucket, she was the daughter of the late Raymond G. and Johanna (Hayden) Balentine. She resided in Cumberland for most of her life.

Mrs. Bateman was employed by Liberty Mutual and John Hancock Insurance Companies during her career until her retirement. She was also a co-owner of P& L Kitchen Works with her husband.

Pat, as she was affectionately known, was a communicant of the St. Aidan / St. Patrick Parish in Cumberland. She was a member of the Cumberland Seniors and the Cumberland Crime Stoppers. She enjoyed organizing trips for the members of the Cumberland Senior Center. She truly enjoyed playing cards, her flower and vegetable garden, along with her peach, apple and pear trees. Those who love her will always remember her kind and caring personality, her love for hosting family gatherings and her passion for ice cream.

She leaves her son, John J. Bateman and his wife Rucheephat of North Smithfield, her two daughters, Ann M. Bateman of Cumberland and Joan E Letellier and her husband Michael of Lyman, NH; her three grandchildren, Amy Porter, Jerry Porter and Kantima Patricia Bateman; her three great-grandchildren, Dustin Porter, Kaelyn Porter, and Hailey Porter; her great-great grandson, Liam Porter; as well as several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Elizabeth B. Mitchell.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to Patricia's Life Celebration to be held with a Visitation on Tuesday, May 17, 2022 from 4 to 7 PM and continue on Wednesday, May 18, 2022 at 10 AM in the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Road, Rt. 122, Cumberland. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11AM in the St. Aidan Church, Diamond Hill Road, Cumberland. Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the American Cancer Society, 931 Jefferson Blvd STE 3004, Warwick, RI 02886.
