CUMBERLAND

Najat Charchafliah, 77, of Cumberland, passed away on Sunday, January 21, 2024 at the Lincolnwood Rehabilitation Center, North Providence.   She was the wife of Joseph A. Charchafliah, and they had been married for the past 53 years.

Born in Aleppo, Syria, she was the daughter of the late George and Ariette (Ajkia) Haddad.  She moved to this country in 1971, settling in Pawtucket and later residing in Cumberland for most of her life.

Najat was a member and volunteer of the St. Basil the Great Parish in Lincoln.  She was a talented cook, and would lend her gift to many church events.  She enjoyed traveling with her husband, but most of all loved spending time with her beloved grandchildren.    Those who love her will remember her smile, her gracious personality, her love for sharing her cooking with others, but most of all the love she carried for her family.

She leaves her daughter, Nina Charchafliah Unsworth  of Cumberland  and her fiance Wayne Dow of Connecticut; her two grandsons, Stephen Unsworth and Matthew Unsworth, both of Cumberland; her siblings, Laila Haddad Raheb, Nadia Haddad Kalash, Naim Haddad, Mounir Haddad, Samir Haddad, Nabil Haddad, Tony Haddad, and Edwar Haddad; as well as several nieces and nephews.  She was the sister of the late John Haddad.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to Najat's Life Celebration to be held with Visiting Hours on Wednesday, January 24, 2024 from 4-7 PM at St. Basil the Great Church, 15 Skyview Drive, Lincoln.   A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, January 25, 2025  at 10 AM.  Burial will follow at St. Basil Cemetery, Cumberland.
