Her faith and church were an important part of her life.

CUMBERLAND

Muriel T. (Hobson) Quinn, 97, formerly of Cumberland passed away on Saturday, October 3, 2026 at South Shore Hospital in Weymouth, MA. She was the beloved wife of the late Raymond F. Quinn.

Born in Central Falls, she was the daughter of the late James and Alice (Fregeolle) Hobson. She resided in Cumberland for most of her life, and most recently in Hingham, MA.

Mrs. Quinn was employed as the Supervisor for the Central Registration Department at the former Notre Dame Hospital in Central Falls, beginning as a Candy Striper at the age of 14 and working her way up to administration. She worked there for 67 years, until her retirement at the age of 82.

She was a communicant of St. John Vianney Church from 1967 to 2017, where she sang in the church choir and volunteered as the parish bookkeeper. Her faith and church were an important part of her life. She also enjoyed going to the movies and theatre, reading, and above all, spending time with her family.

For the last decade of her life, she resided at Linden Ponds in Hingham, MA, where she was pleasantly surprised by the many wonderful friendships she formed at this late stage in her life. She was a member of three choral groups and stayed busy volunteering her time at the Treasure Chest and serving as a Greeter for new residents.

She leaves her son, Gregory J. Quinn and his wife Patricia of Glen Burnie, MD; her daughter, Lisa Q. Freter and her husband Dr. Rolf Freter of Waterville Valley, NH; her grandchildren, Kathryn Quinn, Brendan Quinn, Emma Freter-Perry and her husband Michael Perry, Lindsay Freter, and Gillian Freter; her great-granddaughter, Frankie Freter-Perry; her sister Margaret (Hobson) Corbett of Niantic, CT; as well as dozens of nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late James Hobson, Alice (Hobson) Blanchette, Pauline Hobson, George Hobson, William Hobson, Martha (Hobson) Kiley, Edward Hobson, Daniel Hobson and Richard Hobson.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to Muriel's Life Celebration to be held with Visiting Hours on Friday, October 9, 2026 from 4 to 7 PM and continue on Saturday, October 10, 2026 at 9 AM in the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Road, Rt. 122, Cumberland. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 AM in the St. John Vianney Church. Burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery, Cumberland

Memorial donations may be made in her memory to South Shore Health Palliative Care.
