CUMBERLAND

Miquelina Neves, 98, of Cumberland, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, at the Holiday Retirement Home in Manville surrounded by her family.

Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Joaquim and Maria (Barboza) Amaral. Miquelina made Cumberland her home for most of her life, embracing her community with warmth and grace.

A proud graduate of Bryant College, she earned her Bachelor's Degree before beginning a long and accomplished career in public service. She served for more than 25 years as a Secretary with the Rhode Island Department of Health and later became the Parish Secretary at Our Lady of Fatima Church—a role she cherished and fulfilled with great joy and dedication.

Deeply rooted in her faith and Portuguese heritage, Miquelina was a communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Church and an active member of both the Lions Club and the Portuguese Beneficente Society. She found joy in family, breaking bread with friends and reading the newspaper. She also enjoyed watching the Red Sox and Patriots. Pursuits that reflected her vibrant spirit and love of life.

She is survived by her son, Carlos Neves and his wife Jean of Cumberland; her beloved granddaughters, Lindsey Baillargeron of Cumberland, her husband Justin. and Amanda Harris of Grafton, MA, her husband Tim.; and her great-grandchildren, Luke Lydia and Logan. She also leaves many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Manual Neves and her sister, Margaret Amaral.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend Miquelina's Life Celebration, with Visiting Hours on Wednesday, December 17, 2025 from 5 to 8 PM and continue on Thursday, December 18, 2025 at 9 AM in the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Road, Rt. 122, Cumberland. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 AM at Our Lady of Fatima Church, Fatima Drive, Cumberland. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Cumberland.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to Our Lady of Fatima church and the Cumberland Lincoln Lions club.
