Michael A. Ando, 66, passed away on Thursday, October 3, 2024, in the Hope Health Hulitar Hospice Center, Providence surrounded by his beloved family. He was the husband of Jennifer (Grover) Ando. They have been married for the past 20 years.
Born in Providence, he was the son of the late John A. and Gabrielle (Bolduc) Ando. He has resided in Lincoln for the past 25 years, previously residing in Johnston.
Mike was a lifelong talented drummer honing his craft at the Berklee College of Music in Boston. His passions were vast fueled by an insatiable curiosity for life. Always willing to lend a helping hand, he found great satisfaction in fixing things for others. Mike enjoyed riding his motorcycle, but above all, he treasured the time spent with his beloved family and friends. Mike consistently made a positive impact on all that had the pleasure of knowing him. His family is comforted by the constant chatter of warm words always referencing him as, "a truly great man" or "irreplaceable". His energy is an infinite beam of light that will live on forever.
He was a respected and dedicated skilled maintenance mechanic for Pepsi Cola Bottling Company, Cranston for 39 years.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by four daughters: Michelle Shea and her husband Bobby of North Providence, Nicole Benoit of Chester, NY., Kristen Ando of Cranston, and Arianna Ando of Lincoln. His three brothers: John C. Ando of Central Falls, Richard Ando of North Providence, and Joseph Ando and his husband Leonard of Tiverton. His two sisters: Linda Stanish of Providence, Debora Olivo and her husband Joseph of North Providence. He was a loving Papa to Jayden Benoit, Zane Arocho, and Rogan Shea. He is also survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to thank and acknowledge the entire staff at The Highlands on the East Side, Providence, for the outstanding care that was provided to him, his wife and family.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to Michael's Life Celebration to begin with Visiting Hours on Monday, October 7, 2024, from 4 PM to 7 PM in the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Road Cumberland. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, October 8, 2024, at 11 AM in St. Anthony Church, 1413 Mineral Spring Avenue North Providence, RI 02904. Burial will follow in St. Francis Cemetery, Pawtucket.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Memory and Aging Program, C/O Butler Hospital, 345 Blackstone Blvd., Providence, RI 02906.
