"Heaven got a little louder" on Friday, October 20, 2023, Mark F. Forte, 64, passed away peacefully due to a brief illness, surrounded by his loving family in the Kent County Memorial Hospital, Warwick. "He rode his wheels straight into heaven, pipes and Lynyrd Skynyrd blasting."
Born in Providence, RI, he was the devoted son of the late Alfred and Cecilia (Mulligan) Forte. He was a lifelong Cumberland resident.
Markie Mark, as he was affectionately known as, was an avid motorcycle enthusiast and the El Presidente of the Islanders Social Club, but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family. His beloved motto "La Famiglia e Tutto".
He was a superintendent for Cardi Construction Corp., Warwick, for more than 20 years, previously employed by the former AA Will, Freetown, MA., and the former family business Forte Bros. Construction, Cumberland.
Mark was the adored father of: Alicia Forte Morrone and her husband Jeff Morrone of McKinney, TX., and Annie Forte Francis and her husband Vincent Francis of Cumberland. And the beloved brother of Sheila Forte Gherardini and her husband Gary of Warwick, and Sara Forte Brelsford and her husband Dan of Cumberland. His godchildren: Emma Brelsford, Andrew Iovino, and Niccola (Iovino) Nelson along with several other nieces and nephews. Mark had a larger-than-life personality that could light up a room, an infectious smile and quick wit with his legendary one liners. His kind and generous soul with be greatly missed by all who loved him.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to Mark's Life Celebration to begin with Visiting Hours on Thursday, November 2, 2023, from 4 PM to 7 PM, and continuing Friday, November 3, 2023, at 9 AM in the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Road Cumberland. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 AM in the Historic St. Joseph Church, 1303 Mendon Road Cumberland. A private burial will follow.
