Obituary

NORTH PROVIDENCE

Marjorie (Gorman) Hayter, 87, of Cumberland, formerly of  North Providence, passed away on Saturday, March 30, 2024 at Hope Hospice in Providence.   She was the wife of the late Anthony HC Hayter and the late Joseph F. Gorman.

Born in Cumberland, she was the daughter of Leo and Emma (Dufault) Lavoie.   She resided in Cumberland for the past 7 years, previously residing in North Providence.

Mrs. Hayter was employed as a Medical Secretary for Stephen J. Richman MD for 15 years, and previously the Miriam Hospital for 17 years.

Marjorie enjoyed reading, raising her dogs, and spending time with her beloved family.


She leaves her children, Michael Gorman, JoAnn Laplante, both of Cumberland; her two step-children, Wayne Hayter and Tracey Gustafson, both of Burrillville; her sister, Mary D'Elia of Las Vegas, NV; her many grandchildren.  She was the mother of the late John Gorman and sister of the late Elizabeth Fontaine.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to Marjorie's Life Celebration to be held with Visiting Hours on Friday from 2 to 5 PM.  A prayer service will be held at 4:30 PM.

In lieu of flowers, donations will be made in her memory to the Rhode Island SPCA, 155 Plan Way, Warwick, RI 02886.
