Obituary

Marilyn E. Forte, 93, embarked on her final journey on Sunday, December 29, 2024, in Cherry Hill Manor, Johnston. She was the wife of the late Chris Forte Jr.,

Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late William and Dora (Wahoskey) Bowen. She resided in Cumberland for more than 64 wonderful years. Marilyn is a direct descendant of Roger Williams.

An incredible seamstress, she had a remarkable talent for making beautiful clothes, quilts, and bedding for herself and her family, filling their homes with warmth and love. Her quick mind and curiosity found joy in solving crossword puzzles, while her imagination thrived in the pages of mystery novels, which she loved to read. Known for her delicious cooking, Marilyn created countless meals that brought her loved ones together around the table. A devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, she was a sweet, gentle soul who touched the hearts of everyone she met. Her kindness, creativity, and unwavering love for her family will be deeply missed but fondly remembered.

Marilyn leaves behind her loving children, Deborah Smalley of Cumberland, and Julie Forte and her husband David Franklin of Hopkinton, MA. She was a doting grandmother to Brooke DiGioia and her husband Peter of Plainview, NY, Spencer Franklin of Brighton, MA, and Lydia Franklin of Washington D.C. Marilyn is also survived by her sister-in-law, Ann Forte of Johnston, her nephew, Glenn Forte of Clearwater, FL, and her niece, Diann Boyajian and her husband James of Saunderstown; her grand-niece, Cara Boyajian of Saunderstown. She was the mother of the late Chris Forte III, mother-in-law of the late William Smalley Jr., and sister of the late Richard Bowen and Irma Gibbons.
