CUMBERLAND

Mariana (deJesus) Goncalves, 97, of Cumberland, passed away on October 18, 2023 at home surrounded by her loving family.  She was the wife of 67 years to the late Albano Goncalves.

Born in Santa Luzia, Mangualde, Portugal, she was the daughter of the late Antonio Almeida and Leonor de Jesus.  She moved this country in 1983, settling in Central Falls and later moving to Cumberland.

Mrs. Goncalves was employed by the Crown Mills Inc. for many years until her retirement.

She was a communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Church, Cumberland.  She enjoyed gardening, crocheting, baking and cooking.  She took great care in tending to her plants and flowers all around the house and property.   She mostly loved spending time with her beloved family, especially her grandson Paul.

She is survived by her daughter Maria da Graca Silva and her husband Jose Paulo Silva of Cumberland and her grandson Paul Silva of Cumberland. She was predeceased by several brothers and sisters.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to Marianas Life Celebration to be held with Visiting Hours on Wednesday, October 25, 2023 from 5 to 8 PM and continue on Thursday October 26, 2023 at 8 AM  in the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Road, Rt. 122, Cumberland.   A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9 AM at Our Lady of Fatima Church, Cumberland.   Burial will take place at the Town Cemetery of Mangualde, Portugal.
