Maria
Silva
Jun 22, 1934 — May 26, 2025
Valrico
PAWTUCKET, RI
Maria (Gomes) Silva, age 90, of Valrico, Florida, and formerly of Pawtucket, Rhode Island, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 26, 2025, at Advent Health in Tampa. She was the beloved wife of the late Manuel C. Silva.
Born in São Miguel, Azores, Portugal, Maria was the cherished daughter of the late Belmira Gomes and the late Manuel Real. In 1972, she immigrated to the United States, first settling in Hudson, Massachusetts. A few years later, she made her home in Pawtucket, where she lived for over four decades. In 2021, she relocated to Florida to be with her son in her later years.
Maria worked for many years as a machine operator at Texas Instruments, where her strong work ethic and quiet dedication earned the respect of her colleagues. After retiring, she embraced a life filled with the simple joys she treasured most.
She was a former communicant of St. Anthony Church in Pawtucket and a woman of deep faith and quiet strength. In her free time, Maria found joy in crocheting intricate pieces for loved ones, solving crossword puzzles and sudoku, and watching her favorite Portuguese and Spanish novellas. Most of all, she loved being surrounded by her family—her greatest pride and joy.
She is survived by her devoted children: Ann Camacho of Cumberland, Gus DaSilva of North Smithfield, Mandy Gomes of Taunton, MA, and Paul DaSilva of Valrico, FL. She was a loving grandmother to eleven grandchildren: Paul Jr., Matthew, Jennifer, Stephen, Natasha, Vanessa, Cassie, Bobby, Philip, Gus Jr., and Paloma, and a proud great-grandmother to seven great-grandchildren. Maria also leaves behind several nieces and nephews who will remember her fondly. She was predeceased by her daughter Carla DaSilva and her brother Gastão Gomes.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to Maria's Life Celebration, with visiting hours on Wednesday, June 4, 2025 from 4 to 7 PM and continue on Thursday, June 5, 2025 at 9 AM at the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Road, Route 122, Cumberland. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 AM at Our Lady of Fatima Church, Fatima Drive, Cumberland, followed by burial at Mt.
