Maria Salete Bernardo, 91, of Cumberland, passed away on Wednesday, October 19, 2022 in the Miriam Hospital surrounded by her family. She was the wife of the late Nelson Bernardo.

Born in Soito de Vide, Penalva do Castelo, Portugal, she was the the daughter of the late Manuel A. and Albertina (de Jesus) Ramos. Maria came to this country in 1970, settling in Cumberland.

She was a communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Church, Cumberland. Maria enjoyed sewing, cooking, gardening, and traveling to Portugal, but most of all her love for her family was her passion.

She leaves her children, Antonio Bernardo and his wife Josefa of Cumberland, Lucia Ferreira and her husband Manuel of Cumberland, Manuel Bernardo and his wife Lesley of South Attleboro, MA. Her brother Antonio Ramos and her sister Fernanda Albuquerque both of Portugal. Her seven grandchildren, Isabel, Nelson, Tony, Stephen, Michael, Manny and Suely; her six great-grandchildren, Cristian, Gabriela, Nicholas, Addison, Reagan, and Madison; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to Maria's Life Celebration with Visiting Hours to be held Monday, October 24, 2022, from 8:30 to 10:30 AM in the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Road, Rt. 122, Cumberland. Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11 AM in the Our Lady of Fatima Church, 1 Fatima Drive, Cumberland. Burial will follow in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Cumberland.
