PAWTUCKET

Maria Lurdes Paiva Monteiro, 88, of Pawtucket, passed away on Saturday, July 8, 2023 at home.  She was the wife of the late Amadeu Monteiro.

Born in Viseu, Portugal, she was the daughter of the late  Manuel Lopes Paiva and the late Emilia Teixeira.  She came to this country in 1962, settling in Cumberland and later moving to Pawtucket.

Mrs. Monteiro was employed as an assembler for the AT Cross Company for ten years until her retirement.   She was previously employed by the former Health Tex Inc. and Hasbro Inc.

Maria was a communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Church.  She enjoyed knitting in her spare time.

She leaves her two sons, Roger Monteiro of Pawtucket and  John Monteiro  and his wife Filomena of Pawtucket; her two grandchildren, Isabela Monteiro and John Robert Monteiro; as well as several nephews.   She was the sister of the late Celeste Amaral and Helena Paiva.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to Maria's Life Celebration to be held with Visiting Hours on Wednesday, July 12, 2023 from 5 to 8 PM and continue on Thursday, July 13, 2023 at 9 AM in the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Road, Rt. 122, Cumberland.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 AM in the Our Lady of Fatima Church, Fatima Drive, Cumberland.  Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
