It is with great sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of Maria H. Lopes, a cherished member of the Cumberland community. Maria, 72, was a devoted mother to Christopher Almeida, and will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

Maria was born in Acores, Portugal, and came to the United States in the 1970s, where she settled in Central Falls before moving to Cumberland. She was a hardworking employee at Peterson Puritn of Cumberland for many years, and her dedication to her work was truly admirable.

Maria was a devout communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Church, where she found solace and comfort in her faith. In her spare time, she loved to watch soccer and was a devoted and passionate Sporting Soccer Club fan. Her love of the game and enthusiasm for her team was contagious and will be remembered by all who shared her passion.
