Maria G. Leal, 77, passed away on Saturday, February 8, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of Antonio Leal; they have been married for the past 40 years.

Born in Penalva do Castelo, Portugal, she was the daughter of the late Gregorio and Gracinda (Cecilio). She came to the United States at the age of 17 and settled in Cumberland.

She was a communicant of the Historic St. Joseph Church, Cumberland.

She began her career with her uncle as the owners of the Valley Cafe. She later was an employee of Health Tex, Inc., Cumberland. Maria also dedicated many years to taking care of infants at Kids Play Daycare, Cumberland.

She was a dancing queen and the life of the party. Maria loved her flower garden, sewing and making beautiful memories with her family and friends.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children: Mary Ann Garcia and her husband Mario of Pawtucket and Richard Vasques of Providence. Her grandchildren: Amanda Garcia, Kayla Garcia, Ashley Vasques, and Dylan Vasques. Her great grandchildren: Gabriella, Charlotte, and Taylor along with several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her seven brothers and sisters.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to Maria's Life Celebration to begin with Visiting Hours on Friday, February 14, 2025, from 9 AM to 10:30 AM in the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Road Cumberland. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 AM in the Historic St. Joseph Church, 1303 Mendon Road Cumberland. Burial will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Curran Road Cumberland.
