Maria J. Santos, aged 95, of Cumberland, passed away peacefully on January 6, 2025, at the Grandview Center in Cumberland, surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of the late Joaquim dos Santos.

Born in Folgosinho, Portugal, Maria was the cherished daughter of the late Joao and Rosa Esteves Ernesto. She immigrated to the United States in 1984, initially settling in Pawtucket before making her home in Cumberland for many years.

Maria was a devoted communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Church, where she found spiritual solace and community.

She is survived by her children, Joao Esteves Sequeira and his wife Lucinda of Cumberland, Antonio Esteves Sequeira and his wife Florinda of New Jersey, and Lurdes Lopes of Cumberland. Maria was a proud grandmother to five grandchildren: John Sequeira, Michael Sequeira, Nelson Sequeira, Brian Sequeira, and Daniel Lopes, and a loving great-grandmother to Ayden, Jacob, Benjamin, and Lillian. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews.

Maria was predeceased by her siblings, Jose Ernesto, Antonio Ernesto, and Maria Rojoa.

Relatives and friends are invited to celebrate Maria's life with a visitation on Friday, January 10, 2025, from 9 AM to 10:30 AM at the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Road, Rt. 122, Cumberland. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 AM at Our Lady of Fatima Church, 1 Fatima Drive, Cumberland. Maria will be laid to rest at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Cumberland.
