Maria Guimas, 88, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 21, 2025, at the Elmhurst Extended Care Facility in Providence. She was the beloved wife of the late Ambrosio Guimas.
Born in Manteigas, Portugal, she was the daughter of the late Antonio Luis Carvalho and Maria Augusta Pinheiro. Maria immigrated to the United States many years ago, settling in Cumberland, where she made a warm and loving home for her family.
Maria worked as a factory worker for Conrad Jarvis Inc. Textile Company for over 20 years. She was a devoted communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Church in Cumberland and held close to her faith throughout her life.
Family was at the center of everything she did. She treasured time spent with her children and especially adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, finding joy in every moment she shared with them.
She leaves her children, Fernando Guimas and his wife Telma of the Azores, Portugal, and Ana Almeida and her husband Carlos of Cumberland. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Fabio Guimas, Claudio Guimas, Jerson Almeida, and Alex Almeida; and her great-grandchildren, Geovanni Guimas and Claudio Guimas. She is additionally survived by many siblings residing in Portugal.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to Maria's Life Celebration to be held with a Mass of Christian Burial on Monday, November 24, 2025 at 10 AM in Our Lady of Fatima Church, Fatima Drive, Cumberland, RI. Burial will be private.
In accordance with family wishes, Visiting Hours are respectfully omitted.
