With heavy hearts and deep love, we celebrate the life of a truly remarkable woman. Maria D. Santos (Carma Santos), 69 of Cumberland, passed away peacefully, surrounded by love, on May 11, 2026.

Maria was the heart of her family; a devoted wife of 44 years to Jonel A. Santos, and loving Mother to Monica Silva of Lincoln (and her husband AJ) and Jessica Trindade of Lincoln (and her husband Paulo). She was also a proud and devoted grandmother to Benjamin and Ellie Trindade, who brought her endless joy and pride.

She was a loyal daughter, sister, aunt, and friend whose presence brought warmth, comfort, and joy into every room she entered. In addition to her husband, children, and grandchildren, Maria is survived by her mother Irene Rei and siblings Manuel Rei, Armenio Rei, Francisco Rei, Grace Almeida, Diamantino Rei, Jose Rei, Gilberto Rei, and Ana Delamare, as well as many loving nieces and nephews.

Known for her incredible cooking and welcoming home, she expressed love through every meal she prepared and every gathering she hosted. Her kitchen was a place where memories were made, laughter was shared, and no one ever left hungry.

Her heart was especially devoted to children. She lovingly cared for and raised many as if they were her very own. Her nurturing spirit and gentle soul made countless lives better simply because she was part of them.

She found happiness in life's simple joys; time with her grandchildren, shopping with loved ones, tending to her garden, and faithfully devoting her time and prayers to Our Lady of Fatima Church. Her faith, compassion, and positive outlook were the foundation of the way she lived her life. She always chose to see the good in people and believed deeply in the importance of family, love, and community.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to Maria's Life Celebration to be held with Visitation on Thursday, May 14, 2026 from 4 to 7 PM and continue on Friday, May 15, 2026 at 9 AM at J. J. Duffy Funeral Home,757 Mendon Road, Rt. 122, Cumberland.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 AM in Our Lady of Fatima Church, Fatima Drive, Cumberland.  Burial will follow at the St. John Cemetery, Cumberland.

Though she will be deeply missed every day, her legacy of love, strength, faith, and kindness will continue to live on through the many lives she touched. May she rest peacefully, reunited with eternal light and surrounded by the love she so freely gave to others throughout her life.
