CUMBERLAND

Maria Rosa Borges, 94, of Cumberland passed away on Tuesday, October 17, 2023 at home surrounded by her loving family.  She was the wife of the late Antonio Borges.

Born in Lagarinhos, Portugal, she was the daughter of the late Manuel Dos Santos and the late Maria Dos Anjos.  She moved to this country in 1969 for a time, and in 1990 moved back to Portugal, until her return in 2015.

Mrs. Borges was a Machine Operator for some area textile mills for many years.

Maria enjoyed gardening, crocheting, playing cards, but most of all spending time with her family.  Those who love her remember her kind and generous spirit.

She is survived by her daughter Maria Fatima Janelas and her husband Manuel of Cumberland; her son Antonio S. Borges and his wife Kathie of Florida; her four grandchildren; Michael Mamede Sr., Eric B. Mamede, Allison Borges and Joshua Borges; her  great grandchild; Michael Mamede Jr.; her siblings, Lurdes Vicente, Emilia Carmona, Encarnacao Abrantes, and Carma Dos Santos, all of Portugal.  She also leaves two step grandchildren; David Janelas and Stephanie DeJesus and two step great-grandchildren; Isac and Aidan DeJesus, along with several nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Maria Lurdes-Borges and sister of the late Conceicao Ferreira and Antonio Dos Santos.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to Maria's Life Celebration to be held with Visiting Hours on Saturday , October 21, 2023 from 8 AM to 9:30 AM in the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Road, Rt. 122, Cumberland.  A Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM in Our Lady of Fatima Church, Fatima Drive, Cumberland.   Burial will follow at Mt. St. Mary Cemetery, Pawtucket.
