Maria Dos Anjos Costa, 84, of Central Falls, passed away on Monday, March 3, 2025, at home surrounded by the love of her family. She was the wife of the late Jose L. Costa with whom she shared 60 years of marriage.

Born in Azenha Velha, Torres Vedras, Portugal, she was the daughter of the late Matias Vicente Paulino and Filomena DeJesus. She emigrated to this country in 1968, settling in Cumberland and later moving to Central Falls where she resided for most of her life.

Mrs. Costa was employed by the Central Braid Company for many years until her retirement in 2001. Maria was a devoted communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Church, embracing her faith with warmth and dedication. She found immense joy in welcoming family and friends to her home in the charming coastal town of Cascais, Portugal, where laughter and conversation filled the air. An adventurous spirit at heart, she occasionally joined her husband on fishing trips, savoring the tranquility of the sea. In her golden years, nothing brought her more happiness than caring for her cherished grandchildren, showering them with love and wisdom. To all who knew her, Maria was a true social butterfly—effortlessly engaging, endlessly kind, and always ready for a heartfelt conversation.

She leaves her two children, Luis M. Costa and his wife Lynn of Smithfield and Paula M. Lopes and her husband John of Cumberland; her siblings, Manuel Paulino and his wife Etelvina of Portugal, Maria Suzette Pontes of Luxemburg, Maria Conceicao Ferreira and her husband Jose Antonio of Portugal, Maria Do Rosario Moreira and her husband Manuel of Luxemburg; her four grandchildren, Nichole, Devin, Michael, and Matthew; her great-granddaughter, Nora; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to Maria's Life Celebration to be held with Visiting Hours on Thursday, March 6, 2025, from 4 to 7 PM and continue on Friday, March 7, 2025, at 9 AM in the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Road, Rt. 122, Cumberland. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10 AM in Our Lady of Fatima Church, Fatima Drive, Cumberland. Burial will follow in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Cumberland.
