Maria Branco Alfaia, 87, passed away on Wednesday, June 12, 2024, in the Hope Health Hulitar Hospice Center, Providence. She was the wife of the late Rafael G. Alfaia.

Born in Sobral da Lagoa, Portugal, she was the daughter of the late Antonio D. and Maria (dos Ramos) Branco. Maria and her family came to this country in 1966, settling in Cumberland.

She was a communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Church, Cumberland.
Maria was an avid gardener and enjoyed crocheting, the rest of her spare time was devoted to helping raise her grandchildren and spending time with her family.

She was employed by the former Central Braid & Rug for more than 26 years, until her retirement in 1998.

She is survived by her children: Antonio B. Alfaia and his wife Sandra of Ormond Beach, FL, Steven B. Alfaia and his wife Brenda of Cumberland, and Louis B. Alfaia and his partner Joshua of Coventry. His brother, Jose Branco and sister, Arminda Rosa both of Cumberland. Her six grandchildren; Stacey, Sarah, Michael, Sydney, Charity, and Adela; five great-grandchildren; Josephine, Giovani, Charlotte, Jamie and Jonathan, along with several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Joaquim Branco.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to Maria's Life Celebration to begin with Visiting Hours on Tuesday, June 18, 2024, from 4 PM to 7 PM and continuing on Wednesday, June 19, 2024 at 9 AM in the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Road Cumberland, A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 AM in Our Lady of Fatima Church, 1 Fatima Drive Cumberland. Burial will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Cumberland.
