CUMBERLAND

Manuel P. Gouveia, 81, of Cumberland, passed away on Tuesday, January 13, 2026 at the Miriam Hospital, Providence.  He was the beloved husband of Rosa (Lopes) Gouveia, and they had been married for the past 50 years.

Born in Sao Miguel, Acores, Portugal, he was the son of the late Jose and Virginia (DeJesus Pereira) Gouveia. He proudly resided for many years in Terceira, Acores, Portugal prior to moving to this country in 1976, settling in Pawtucket and later moving to Cumberland where he resided for most of his life.

Mr. Gouveia was employed as Machine Operator for the Northeast Cable Company for over 30 years until his retirement.

Manuel was a communicant of the Our Lady of Fatima Church.  He enjoyed gardening, daily walks, but most of all he loved spending time with his family, especially his beloved grandchildren.

In addition to his beloved wife, he leaves his children, Anabela Araujo and her husband Paulo of Cumberland and Delia DaSilva and her husband Antonio of Lincoln; his grandchildren, Tiago and Lucas Araujo and Ava and Faith DaSilva; his siblings, Virginia Dias of California and Maria Gouveia of Terceira, Acores, Portugal.  He was the grandfather of the late Ella DaSilva and brother of the late Jose Gouveia, Jorge Gouveia, Eduarda Couto and Arturo Brivaldo Gouveia.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to Manuel's Life Celebration to be held with Visiting Hours on Saturday, January 17, 2026 from 9 AM to 10:30 AM.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 AM in Our Lady of Fatima Church, Fatima Drive, Cumberland.  Burial will be private.
