Obituary

Manuel Morais Fino, 92, of Cumberland, RI passed away peacefully at home on March 29, 2024, surrounded by his loved ones. Manuel was born on February 8,1932 in Mogadouro, Celorico da Beira, Beira Alta, Portugal. He came to this country in May of 1976 settling in Cumberland in search of better opportunities for his children.

Manuel was employed as a Machine Operator for Murdock Webbing for 20 years until his retirement.

Manuel is survived by his wife Maria Arminda of 66 years. He also leaves behind his children and their spouses. Lurdes Gonçalves (Carlos Da Silva), Joe Fino (Dora), Fatima Pereira (John), Rosa Resendes (Nick), Olga (Orlando Mateus), Aida Faria (Luis), Jack Fino, Alice Fino, Elizabeth Landry (Scott).

His greatest joys were his grandchildren and great-grandchildren who affectionately call him Vovô and Vozinho.  John Gonçalves (Shelagh), Sawyer, Spencer, Serena; Jessica Legendre (Derek) Ethan, Logan; Steven Da Silva (Leonor), Angela, Joseph; Betsey da Silva, Carla; Nicole Brigham (Brian), Sienna, Anika, Keira, James; Jonathan Fino (Alexis), Lola, Penelope, Ariana; Ashley Dauwer (Brian), Brandon, Gavin; Justin Resendes (Kelsey); Kayla Resendes; Daniel Mateus; Raquel Mateus; Alexa Faria; Meghan Faria; Brianna Landry; Benjamin Landry; Brayden Landry

He also leaves behind his brother Fernando Fino, in Portugal. He was blessed to have an amazingly large family that includes several nieces, nephews and cousins. Too many to mention, but all who individually held a special place in his heart.

Manuel was also predeceased by his father Alexandre, mother Guilhermina, and siblings Maria, Isabel, Antonio, Jose Roque, Joaquim, Ilda, Rosa, Armando.

He enjoyed spending the summer in Portugal with his wife. He was a communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Church. He was a member of Club Juventude Lusitana, where he spent many afternoons playing cards with his friends. Manuel was part of the success of the soccer team at Clube Juventude Lusitana for many years. He was a dedicated Benfica Fan!

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to Manuel's Life Celebration to be held with Visiting Hours on  Tuesday, April 2, 2024 from 4 to 8 PM and continue on Wednesday, April 3, 2024 at 9 AM in the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Road, Rt. 122, Cumberland.  A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10 AM in Our Lady of Fatima Church, Fatima Drive, Cumberland.  Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Cumberland.
